"THE PREDATOR Sets Up New Trilogy"
"Shane Black and Fred Dekker’s upcoming The Predator reboot/sequel will be upon us before we know it. And today we already have word via Variety that according to producer John Davis, The Predator will set up two sequels! Davis hopes Black will return to direct, but Black doesn’t want to get ahead of himself.
“I would love to say we’ve been planning a trilogy, but I take one day at a time,” Black says. “In motion-picture terms that’s one movie at a time.”
Synopsis:
"From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series.
Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race." (source)
Great news!
I think this depends on how well The Predator does at the Box Office and its Critical Reception and SADLY this has not done too well on both accounts.
But we still have the Franchise, and with the ALIEN one i think its now more likely the NEXT movie from the Predator or Alien Franchise could be a AVP Reboot.
I cant help but think Disney/Fox will pick upon Ridley Scotts WAR OF THE WORLDS comment regarding where he would like to have taken the Prometheus/Alien Franchise.
And so a Aliens vs Predator vs Engineers could be something they could consider... as to continue with Alien Covenant or The Predator may be more risky for them.
